My Hyperemesis Gravidarum, Pregnancy, and Birth Story

My goodness, it has been quite a while since I last wrote here. Some of you know I was pregnant in 2019 and suffered from a rare pregnancy condition called Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). Basically what that means is I was sick, nauseous, and throwing up every day for 9 months and through labor and delivery. HG kept me in bed unless I had shoots. I had IVs daily in the beginning. They put me on numerous types of anti-nausea medication, none of which worked very well.Thank God for the most supportive and amazing husband who picked up SO much of the slack around the house. He made sure I had everything I needed and that our older kids were taken well care of all while he managed to work fulltime. I am also grateful for such a supportive community here in Heber City. My friends and family made sure we had meals, helped out with our older kids, and so much more! If you've ever had HG you know how debilitating it can be. You know how it can rob you of your life, the excitement of your pregnancy, and so much more! In the end, it is all worth it though. We met our perfect baby girl, Hope Isabelle, on December 12th, 2019.

Hyperemesis Gravidarum and Pregnancy Photos

Even though I wasn't feeling well, it was important to me to capture this time. I didn't really photograph my last two pregnancies, pregnancy photography wasn't nearly as popular a decade ago as it is today. My dear friend Gabby, came over to the studio to trade pregnancy for personal branding photos. We do this a lot actually. I feel like half of our friendship consists of us photographing each other. I love it though and love her for an open and willing heart. Thank you, Gabby for always capturing gorgeous images of my family. Per usual, we edit our own images to fit each other's personal brands.Hyperemesis Gravidarum, Pregnancy, and PostpartumHyperemesis Gravidarum, Pregnancy, and PostpartumHyperemesis Gravidarum, Pregnancy, and Postpartum Hyperemesis Gravidarum, Pregnancy, and Postpartum

My Birth Story Images

As if 9 months of vomiting wasn't enough. Through every push, every contraction, I kept throwing up. There wasn't even anything in my stomach anymore! A room full of people, my mom, my two older kids, my wonderful doula, Stephanie Bretey, my amazing hubby, Gabby was photographing us again, plus the nurses and doctors! It was a full house for sure! Some of these images below can be a little graphic.
