Rebecca's Timeless Pregnancy Photos
How Rebecca found me: Her sister saw a post from a maternity photographer in Salt Lake City, (aka me!). I was in search for a pregnant woman to model from dresses and new poses for me. Rebecca reached out to me when she heard I was looking to do a maternity shoot in my Heber City, Utah studio even though she was coming all the way from Atlanta, Georgia! Designing a pregnancy shoot for this 1st-time baby to be, was so much fun! She was nervous about the session, especially the images with less clothing. I can completely understand why.Pregnancy is such a changing time for women. Our bodies are creating human life! The insecurities with all the body changes, leave many women feeling unsure about wanting to even be in maternity portraits. Rebecca was no different. I want to take a moment to encourage all you gorgeous pregnant mamas! I know your body is changing, so fast, right before your eyes. I know you're not use-to the ever-growing boobs, the wider hips, thighs, and larger tummy. You are beautiful. Yes, you are not the same as you were 6 months ago, but 6 months ago you weren't creating a human being, either. Empower yourself and see how beautiful you are during this gorgeous time in your life.First off, since being pregnant myself, maternity shoots have become therapy. I completely relate to all the things my pregnant clients are going through. It has been 9 years since the last time I had a kid. There were just little things I sort of forgot since it's been so long. I can relate to how the poses feel as I'm physically showing my clients how to position their bodies in a flattering way. I also think it's fun for another pregnant woman to show you what the pose should look like so you can visualize it yourself. Obviously I won't stay pregnant forever, but it's been fun relating to my clients in this way during pregnancy shoots.Words from Rebecca: "Such an amazing experience. I felt so comfortable at the most vulnerable time in my life while I am pregnant. I was celebrated and all of the best features were brought out. When I saw my images I was blown away! I can't wait to book again and have these precious memories forever."
Maternity Photographer in Salt Lake City
I am a sucker for timeless imagery. That is one of the reasons I tend to gravitate towards neutral colors or black and white images. I want you to be look back at your images and feel just as empowered then, as you did the day you took them. I won't go too trendy with my images as trends tend to "date" an image. This black and white image with the stunning dress maternity dress was a vision I had for a while. I had just purchased that dress for Rebecca's shoot actually. It arrived the day before her shoot! I remember photographing this moment. It was like slow motion. As my vision came together while she shared this vulnerable time in her life with us, everything just clicked perfectly.I've been getting a lot more creative in my edits lately. I love the whimsical feel of pregnancy while still making timeless imagery. Flower fields will always have this whimsical feel to me. It's one of my favorite parts about shoots in the summer in Utah, flower locations everywhere! However, when I'm not outside, it's been such a fun process creating images such as this one with the correct lighting and turning it into a work of art in post-processing.I normally don't add much color to my shoots but this green dress from Silk Fairies is just stunning isn't it? I can't wait to take it out to Provo Canyon! Are you a photographer? Do you live in the Wasatch Valley area and want to rent my studio for your own portrait session in Utah? Now you can!
