A Mother's Struggle
This post is an extremely personal post. Coming from a place of personal experience, I feel like I am suppose to share with you mamas, the struggles of being a mother in 2016, single or married. It's not easy! Are you guys with me? The pressures of society are BRUTAL as a mom! While our instincts are telling us to be nurturing to our little ones as they grow, we are pressured into "having it all" at the same time. The career, the family, the cars, the house, the private school, and the list goes on. The constant guilt of trying to balance both career and motherhood, is extremely intense. While there is nothing wrong with having "the dream", what is hurting us as women, is the focus on the dream and not the love.In 2015, I made a resolution to live more simply. Spend less, get rid of anything I didn't need, and live more peacefully. I wanted to adopt more of a minimalist lifestyle. I wasn't aware that by simplifying my physical life, I was also going to find a bunch of unneeded junk within too. The things that convicted me, realizing where my life has been all this time. Why do we feel the need to achieve these "perfect" lives? Why do you we need all this stuff? Is any of it really going to make us happy? Are we jeopardizing the people we love in order to achieve "the dream life"? The part I find hard about it, is on one hand, I'm providing a good quality life for my children but on the other hand, sometimes I am sacrificing moments of bonding and relationship building with the people I love, for those moments of providing a life for them. Balance is SO key and yet can seem extremely stressful to achieve. Here is what I am learning, and hopefully it speaks to you as well; love people first, let the rest follow suit in that. This is a mother's struggle in this new era of family. I am right there with you, I understand. All we can do as moms is hold each other's hands in this process, take each moment by moment, and love our families more and more each and everyday.I hope this post encourages you today.
