Anthony and Shannon came from Westlake, CA to meet with me in my office here in West Hills, CA for their pre-booking consultation, I asked them about their story, how long they have been wanting to have a baby, etc. This sweet couple had been trying to conceive for quite some time, and after a couple miscarriages, they opted for fertility treatments to help them along this tough journey. One of the reasons why whimsical maternity speaks to my soul, is because of the euphoria that almost comes along with pregnancy. I don't just mean the brain fog that comes along with all the headaches in the first trimester either, haha. I mean the almost fairytale way it feels growing a human being inside of a woman's body. It's nothing short of miraculous.If you have ever had a miscarriage, you know first hand, how painful and hard mourning that process is. I had a miscarriage with my third pregnancy, so I was able to relate to Shannon and Anthony's experience, which let me tell you, is never an easy one no matter how early on it happens. The emotional hardship of experiencing loss in the womb, is also something that is rarely talked about. Often times for women, we feel that on our own too, since we are the ones carrying baby. While dad can be support, it can be really hard for men to relate and really feel the process of sadness in that. Not with this couple though, Anthony was so loving, supportive, and kind with Shannon. It's inspiring to see men treat their women in this way.Shannon really wanted to essense of pregnancy captured in her shoot. The glow, the beauty of growing baby with her body, and the feeling of what being pregnant was like. She brought in (and made by the way) this gorgeous maternity skirt, the beautiful flower crown, and her stunning blue dress. Cristina Underwood did an amazing job as usual with make-up and hair.
