Marissa's Motherhood Portraits

When Marissa came to me, I had a very specific vision for her shoot. I didn't want to include all the bowls, buckets, and set ups like I had in the past with my newborn photography work. I wanted to make this experience about making Marissa feel remembered, amazing, and beautiful just a couple weeks after giving birth. After baby is born, we often forget about mama. All the attention goes towards baby, and that's totally natural, but what about mom? She just spend 9-10 months carrying this little precious human, and now she's in the ride of her life. Dealing with postpartum emotions, engorged breasts, trying to survive on sleepless nights, and let's not forget all the crazy that's going on "down there". It's so often we lose ourselves in all of this, and that's why photographing the newborn stage but differently, has become such a huge passion of mine. This session wasn't all about baby. While we did photograph baby alone in some of the images, a lot of them are with mama. Showing the world that "hey, I just pushed a human out of me and I'm still a bad ass, beautiful, human being. See my super powers!"It's clear my passion is about empowering women to see themselves as amazing, even in the new stages of motherhood. When I first move to Utah from Los Angeles, I didn't know how to tie my niche in babies and my passion for empowering women together. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a salt lake city newborn photographer or if I wanted to change my niche entirely. After much thought and deciding to change the focus of my newborn sessions to also be about empowering mom, I became inspired again! Let's face it, if I'm going to empower women to see themselves as stunning, and put a message out there that evokes loving who you are, motherhood and maternity are apart of the woman journey!Women are amazing to me, and we all deserve a little time for pampering and remembering that in the midst of all the chaos, you're still a bad ass, yup, even on those days you don't feel like it.Here's what Marissa said about her shoot:"I have never worked with a photographer more deserving of a 5 star review. Christine was professional, hilarious, and real. Her studio is pristine, her equipment top notch, and her skill set unbeatable. I worked with Christine for a Motherhood/Newborn photoshoot and I am ecstatic with the results! She helped this postpartum woman feel like a million bucks! She was so careful and soft with my newborn baby when positioning and wrapping him for photos that he slept throughout the whole experience. She was able to capture the tiny details that made our photos feel so genuine and authentic. I will forever recommend Christine."Here are some of the images from Marissa's Motherhood Portrait shoot!
