Boho Wedding Shoot
Words from Harmony Creative Studio, the wonderful visionary behind this shoot who brought up this gorgeous theme at Heritage Museum Orange County!
Inspired by the original bohemians, free spirits trapped in an age of prim contentions, our ‘Victorian Boho Love’ styled shoot bridges the gap between the demure vintage and carefree bohemian styles. It’s ‘Free People’ meets the Victorian Era, in springtime! Christy from One Handspun Day was able to perfectly capture both the delicate Victorian aesthetic and bohemian spirit in the invitation suite she designed for this shoot – so pretty!
We were lucky to shoot on location at the Heritage Museum of Orange County, which has not one but two Victorian homes on the property. The grand Kellogg House; which served as the backdrop for our reception set-up, and the Maag House, a restoration-in-process which gave a beautiful industrial backdrop to our model portraits.
We were inspired by the illustrated books of the turn-of-the-century and the elaborate floral borders around their illustrations, and brought them to life in the floral and branch wreath. We also added the beads and tassels, along with ribbons, lace, and crochet to the handles of the bouquets, courtesy of Recycled Love Story.
Our models donned vintage dresses courtesy of Bride Boutique LA, which has such a fabulous curated collection of vintage gowns plus lines from independent and eco-friendly wedding dress designers. We brought the spirit of boho into the looks by keeping their hair down in free-flowing, loosely braided styles with strings of beads and tassels.
Sharing a studio space with the talented Jessica from Bramble Workshop has been awesome, and we couldn’t wait to collaborate on this shoot. I wanted a fresh and unique take on the lace table runner, and Jessica was able to hand paint it with dye to give it a watercolor feel, and taught us how to dip-dye the vintage napkins to match.
I was able to team up with some of the most amazing wedding vendors around for an exquisite shoot featuring these fabulous victorian and bohemian style vintage dresses from Bride Boutique LA. These gowns are everything from romantic, to charming, and so whimsical in every way. Can you just imagine wearing one of these on your special day? I love them both so much!Harmony Creative Studio asked me to be apart of this fabulous shoot, and of course I jumped at the opportunity because this was exactly my style. Our visions came together perfectly for this shoot. This is one of the reasons why it's so important to make sure you have a photographer that can visually understand your wedding day. If you hire a photographer who does not quite shoot the style of your day, you most likely won't be happy with your images. Two great minds think a like, and there is likely to be one that thinks like you!The florals of this amazing shoot, are some of my favorite parts of the details that go along with the fabulous victorian boho styling. Recycled Love Story, which is one of my favorite all time florists, did a SPECTACULAR job not only mixing these two styles together in her florals.... but wait till you see the amazing wreathe as your scroll through. She is incredible... no other words.
Such a beautiful venue! Wouldn't you love to have your boho wedding in orange county at the Heritage Museum?
Set in two classic Victorian homes at Heritage Museum of Orange County it is not hard to slip into this turn of the century storybook fantasy with a few funky modern twists mixed in that are to “dye” for, dip dye that is!
